Cedar Creek Sportsman's Club Meeting
April 19, 2005

The monthly meeting was called to order by Gary Napier, President.
Mark Todd gave the blessing on our meal of hot dogs, cole-slaw, baked beans, bread, and desserts.
52 members & 6 visitors present.

Gary Napier resumed the meeting after our meal with roll call of officers and board members. Officers/Board members present: Gary Napier, R.C. Taylor, Brenda Williams, Debbie Muse, Paul Young, Julian Gander, Les Gooch, Alvie Atwood, Joe Amburgey, Steve Isaacs and alternate, Paul French. Absent board mbrs: Mike Taylor & Phillip Adams. Also absent, Club Chaplain, Curt Herrington.

Minutes from March meeting read by secretary, Brenda Williams. William Earl Denham made motion to accept minutes as read, R.C. Taylor seconded, minutes were accepted, no amendments.

Gary Napier gave financial report: $. in our checking acct.

Bank statements given to club secretary. Les Gooch made motion to accept, Paul Young seconded, report accepted.

Other Club & Committee Reports:

Quail Unlimited: Ray Hammonds reported that Quail Unlimited annual banquet would be May 14, 2005 at the Cedar Creek Sportsman’s Club building. Meal tickets are $10 & meal will be served at 6pm. There will be Quail & chicken served for meat entree. There will be an auction, several raffles, & many door prizes. Be sure and see Ray Hammonds & get your meal ticket.

Skeet Club: Julian Gander reported they were making progress.

Archery Club: Greg Smith reported the next Archery Meet would be May 1st at Cedar Creek Sportsman’s Club.

Rifle range: Rick Muse reported no progress made due to the weather.

Beagle Club: No members present.

Coon Club: No members present.

Old Business:

Members asked, could we begin our Friday night rook games again? Club President, Gary Napier set April 29, at 7pm.

Please bring a snacking food.

-Club President discussed with club members their feelings about selling raffle tickets on a pick-up truck valued at $12,700. Club member, Les Gooch suggested selling tickets at $5, idea more people could afford.

Club member, Nancy Hill said she had seen where the clerk’s office were selling tickets and included a charitable number on their tickets. Club member, Gene Vonlinger suggested raffling the truck off at the Fish Fry instead of Lincoln County Fair. Club member, Janice Southard suggested raffling off the tickets and have the drawing at the fair. Members suggested letting the Board gather information and discuss further.

New Business:

Club President, Gary Napier, announced that the club had a redesigned sign-in sheet whereby we could identify visitors. Purpose is so the club can give visitors a proper welcome and some literature/information on club as well as other subsidiary clubs.

-Club member, Joyce Kitts, discussed with the club her idea of a cook book fund raiser. The fundraiser could profit the club $5 or $6 per book depending on which book the club decided on. Motion made by Virda Zars to proceed with cook book fundraiser, Les Gooch seconded and all members voted yes by uplifted hands, no one opposed. Club President suggested a committee would be appropriate & ask club members that were interested to see Joyce Kitts.

-Club President, Gary Napier announced to members:

1.) pick up a redbud tree that had been furnished to the club by the Historical Society.

2.) Hunter Education Classes would be at CCSC May 9,10th, 11th beginning in the evening at 6pm on Monday & Tuesday & 5:30pm on Wednesday. Free class.

3.) CCSC along with Rotary Club will be getting Pontoon boats to give our elderly adults a sight-seeing tour of Cedar Creek Lake. More later on this event.
