Cedar Creek Sportsman's Club Meeting
May 17, 2005

The monthly meeting was called to order by Gary Napier, President.
Bernie Zars gave the blessing on our meal of hamburgers, hot dogs, cole-slaw, baked beans, bread, and desserts.
45 members & 2 visitors present.

Gary Napier resumed the meeting after our meal with roll call of officers and board members. Officers/Board members present: Gary Napier, R.C. Taylor, Brenda Williams, Debbie Muse, Paul Young, Julian Gander, Les Gooch, Alvie Atwood, Joe Amburgey, Steve Isaacs and alternate, Paul French. Absent board mbrs: Mike Taylor, Steve Isaacs & Alvie Atwood. Also absent, Club Chaplain, Curt Herrington.

Minutes from April meeting read by secretary, Brenda Williams. Joe Amburgey made motion to accept minutes as read, Phillip Adams seconded, minutes were accepted, no amendments.

Gary Napier gave financial report..

Bank statements given to club secretary. William Earl Denham made motion to accept, Rick Muse seconded, report accepted.

Other Club & Committee Reports:

Quail Unlimited: No reports

Skeet Club: Julian Gander reported skeet range was completed. Tentative dates to shoot are Mondays & Thursdays 5pm to 10pm.

Archery Club: Mike Smith reported the next Archery Meet would be June 5th. Volunteers needed on May 31st around 5pm for clean/set-up of archery range and targets. The Archery Club is looking into purchasing t-shirts & decals with logo, Cedar Creek Sportsman’s Archery Club on them.

Rifle range: Rick Muse reported money for rifle range has been raised. They are now waiting on appropriate weather conditions & bulldozer.

Beagle Club: David Long reported June 4th & 5th were dates for their next field trials. The Beagle Club is now a member of the AKC (American Kennel Club).

Coon Club: No members present.

Old Business:

Recognitions--
Les Gooch suggested recognition for the cooks of tonight’s meal, all members gave a round of applause!!

Gary Napier suggested recognition to R.C. Taylor for his hard work on our Dove Field. And to R.C. Taylor, Paul French, Bill Frazier, Julian Gander, & Alvie Atwood for their assistance with the skeet range.

Gary Napier reported that our Ruger Pistol, which we are selling raffle tickets on, was sold to us by Bishop Brothers (Chris & Shannon) at their costs. The Bishop Brothers are club members and have been very instrumental in getting our Archery Program started. Chris & Shannon has sold the club various items at their costs for us to raffle off & raise money.

New Business:

Club President discussed with club members their feelings about postponing rook games until the next time change. There were only six members at the last rook game. Phillip Adams made motion to postpone, Bill Frazier seconded, all members agreed.

Kids Day at the Lake, June 4th, Saturday. Julian Gander will take care of running ads in Danville & Stanford papers. Volunteers to assist with event were Virda Zars, Trudy Tillett, Les Gooch, Tommie Gooch, & Jim LaFevers. Rick Muse is in charge of event on behalf of Dept for Fish & Wildlife.

Debbie Muse, events calendar coordinator, reported that Bill Hayes had phoned her for a date of Sept 10th, 7:30am to 5pm for another Hunter Education Class.

Stanford Mayor, Eddie Carter, invited the club to add a float to the upcoming Lincoln County Historical Society Parade. It is a celebration of the 225th year of Lincoln County.

Raffle tickets are now available to win a ‘Ruger Pistol’. Proceeds from sell of tickets go to pay for concrete used to complete the skeet range.

R.C. Taylor has had tickets made for our Bush Hog (zero-turn) lawnmower. Tickets will be available for Club members to sell later on. .

Tommie Gooch ask for money donation to purchase drinks for next meeting. Phillip Adams will collect the money and make purchase. Anyone wishing to give money on paper products can give that to Debbie Adams. We collected $ for drinks.

Betty Frazier suggested members look for items at home to bring and use as door prizes at our monthly meetings.

Gary Napier, brought up that the date we had set for CCSC &Rotary Club to give our elderly adults a sight-seeing tour of Cedar Creek Lake was not a good date for the Rotary Club.
